Cellulose Ether

Cellulose Ether is a chemically modified cellulose polymer supplied as a white to off-white water-soluble powder. It serves as a thickening agent, binder, and stabilizer in multiple industrial processes. Typical grades include hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) or methyl cellulose (MC) with viscosity ranges between 1000 to 4000 mPas at 2% concentration, depending on application requirements. It is usually packaged in 25 kg bags and should be stored in cool, dry, and well-ventilated conditions to maintain performance and shelf life. When handling, avoid exposure to extreme heat above 50°C and contamination with strong oxidizers or acids, as these can degrade its functional properties.

In construction formulations such as cement and plaster, Cellulose Ether improves workability by controlling water retention and improving adhesion. This chemical ensures consistent product quality and reduces defects like cracking and shrinkage in cured materials. In personal care and pharmaceutical industries, it acts as an excipient that stabilizes emulsions and suspensions, enhancing product uniformity and experience. Accurate dosing at 0.2% to 0.5% weight fractions is essential to achieve these benefits without impacting processing efficiency.
