Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) is a form of carbon processed to have small, low-volume pores that increase the surface area available for adsorption or chemical reactions. Supplied as black granules typically packed in 25 kg bags, this material is primarily used to remove contaminants from liquids and gases. It features a surface area that can reach up to 1000 m²/g depending on the grade, contributing to its high adsorption capacity. When ordering, users should consider its typical pH range in aqueous slurry, between 6 and 8, and note that it must be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated environment to maintain performance. GAC is incompatible with strong oxidizers and should not be exposed to flames or ignition sources during handling. The granular form allows for use in packed bed filters and facilitates easy regeneration or replacement in continuous processes. Its moisture content typically remains below 10%, ensuring the material's effectiveness in industrial applications.
